Durham Rescue Mission News: The DRM hosts their free Annual Christmas Community Dinner this year on Friday, December 22. They serve a turkey and ham dinner, and give away clothing and groceries to those in need. In addition, they give Christmas gifts to all the children and have games & other activities for them to enjoy.

The DRM depends on volunteers to make the event successful. Volunteer opportunities include: collecting new toys, games and books to be given away; setting up the event site; cooking the meal; serving the meal; setting up and manning the game booths; giving away clothing; giving away groceries; giving away Christmas gifts to children; and cleaning up after the event. Mary Z. Martin is organizing a group from TAPC to assist with the event. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to contact Mary at 620-9750 by Dec. 15 so she can let the Mission know how many volunteers to expect. Or, if you wish to volunteer for other opportunities, you can directly contact the DRM Volunteer Coordinator, Rodney McClain at 688-9641 ext. 5025
