TAPC Children's Ministries Programs and Activities

Sunday School:  9:45 – 10:45 am
Our Sunday school curriculum for 3 years old and older is Rock Solid by Cokesbury.  Rock Solid is a 3 year journey through the bible featuring story-based lessons.  The curriculum follows the church calendar year.  Rock Solid challenges children to apply the weekly bible story to their everyday lives by providing an easy to follow format and bible storybooks for each child.  A special feature of this curriculum is that all Sunday school classes will be learning the same story each week.  For the two year old class, we have Toddlers and Twos also by Cokesbury.  This is a developmentally appropriate curriculum introducing simple biblical concepts through movement, arts and crafts, dramatic play, songs, and books.

Children’s Church:  Children’s Church is a time for kindergarten and first graders to explore how and why we worship the way we do.  Children’s church will also explore singing and basic rhythm techniques.  Children will leave with Sloan after the children’s sermon during the 11:00 am worship service.  The first Sunday of each month we invite the children to remain in the service the entire time so they may participate in communion.

Sproutz:  Sproutz is for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.  Sproutz is led by Nathan and Sloan.  It meets the second Sunday of each month immediately following the 11:00 am service.  The Sproutz group enjoys fellowship time together and participates in outreach projects.

Acolytes:  Being an acolyte in the 11:00 am service is an opportunity for 2nd graders and up.  Acolyte’s have the responsibility of marking the Bible or lighting the candles at the start of the service.  Anne Lockwood is the contact person for all acolytes.

Chapel Choir:  2nd grade children and older also may participate in the Chapel Choir.  The children’s choir is led by Harry Jansen and meets on Wednesday’s from 5:00-5:45 pm.  The Chapel Choir teaches children fundamentals of music in fun and creative ways.  The children perform several times a year in the 11:00 am worship service.

Childcare at TAPC:  We strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can play and learn about God.  We are staffed with five experienced childcare workers.   Parent volunteers help out during the 11:00 am service once or twice every three months.  We ask that new families fill out a registration form and notify us of any health concerns and food allergies, or behavioral issues.  Each parent is also asked to sign their child in each Sunday and leave a cell number where we can reach you if necessary.  Remember to put your cell phones on vibrate!
Babies:  We have a nursery for our 6-week old through one year olds.  The nursery is staffed with one childcare worker and parent volunteers during the 11:00 am service.  Please mark all bottles, bags, pacifiers, or blankets that your child brings.  Leave any special instructions about your child.
Crawler Room:  Once your baby becomes mobile, we move them to the Crawler Room.  This room has new walkers to age 2.  Our Crawler Room has one childcare worker and parent volunteers during the 11:00 am service.  We will offer a snack of Cheerios each morning.  We find this easier than having everyone bring a different snack.  Please send a sippy cup filled with a beverage for your child.  Mark all bags, sippy cups, blankets, or animals with your child’s name.  Be sure to sign your child in each Sunday and leave any special instructions.
Two Year Old:  Our two year old room also has one childcare worker and parent volunteers for the 11:00 am service.  The two year olds participate in a bible story during the Sunday school hour and often make a craft.  We provide snack and juice each morning.  We take the children to the playground on nice days for supervised play.  Please mark any belongings with your child’s name.
Three and Four Year Olds:  Our three and four year olds follow the Sunday School curriculum Rock Solid.  They have a bible study each morning followed by a craft or other activity.  The 3 & 4’s go outside on the playground on nice days.  The class has a childcare worker, and either Sunday school teachers or parent volunteers.  We provide a snack.
